Business in the Front, Party in the Back!

Billy the Exterminator & Billy Ray Cyrus - MULLET POWER!

Left: Billy the Exterminator & The Modern Mullet - Right: Billy Ray Cyrus & The Original Mullet

I hadn’t really realized how much I’ve been missing out on. Now that I’m at a house that has cable TV, I’m starting to catch up. Everyone would always wonder how I managed to live without cable, and my response would be something like “I don’t have time to watch that much TV”. Now that I’m single though, I DO have a lot more time… haha.

Anyway, my sister enjoys watching some really… ahem… interesting programs. Thus far, the most… intriguing one would have to be Billy the Exterminator. Oh. My. Goodness.

Some background on the show: Billy is an exterminator who travels around Louisiana taking care of people’s critter problems. Words cannot capture the brilliance of this man. It truely is something you have to experience for yourself. I will, however, give you a fair description of his… “hair”.

Billy has a very unique style which I like to refer to as The Modern Mullet. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit the original Mullet. Enter Billy Ray Cyrus.

Mr. Cyrus probably wasn’t the first person to rock out the Mullet, but he difinetly is one of the most memmorable. One of the main factors contributing to his claiming of the number one spot in the Mullet Hall of Fame is that women were attracted to him! WHAT?! I cannot imagine a time or place where one would find a Mullet attractive or desirable, and yet thousands of women did. BRC isn’t a bad looking guy, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t know how you get past the Mullet.

(At this point, I was about to say “OH the ’80’s… gotta love’em!”, but I double checked. Achey Breaky Heart propelled BRC’s Mullet into the sexy spotlight in 1992! Oh… the shame.)

And just when we all thought that the Mullet had seen it’s last day… here comes Billy the Exterminator. This guy was made to be on TV. He is ridiculously entertaining. But he would be just as entertaining without the Modern Mullet. Perhaps it is his source of power though, kind of like Enrique Iglesias’s mole. Enriques’s mole was definitely his source of power… once he chopped it off, he was DONE. So if that’s the case with Billy, then I vote for him to keep the Modern Mullet. It sort of does have a bit of charm… on him. And it definitely matches his personality. But for everyone else, steer clear. Unless you too are a bad-ass critter exterminator saving pets and people from wild beasts in the treacherous lands of Louisiana… you’re not fit to have a Modern Mullet.

The original Mullet was described as being “Business in the Front, Party in the Back”. This is a pretty accurate description of this hair cut and style. The top/front of the hair is cut short and the back of the hair is allowed to grow wild and long. This is beautifully demonstrated by the 1992 Billy Ray Cyrus. But when compared to the Billy the Exterminator Mullet, we see a big difference. The ’short’ section of the hair, the front section, is much larger than that of BRC’s. Also, the Exterminator’s ’short’ section is much longer and spiked out all over. So the “Business in the Front, Party in the Back” description doesn’t really work for the Exterminator. Hence the Modern Mullet. But what cleaver quip can we use to describe this Modern Mullet? I’m open to suggestions… and would LOVE to hear all your idea =)

For those of you who just cannot resist the Modern Mullet, and are determined to achieve the look yourself. Here’s some styling tips to help you acheive this magical hair style.

Obviously you’re going to need some product… his hair doesn’t spike out like that all by it’s self. My suggestions would be to use one of the following combinations:

1. Roffler Styling Glue and Roffler Sculpt Mist Firm Hair Spray
2. Schwarzkopf Osis G Force Extreme Hold Gel and Osis Freeze Strong Hold Hair Spray
3. Lanza Art Elements Tight Styling Glue and Lanza Art Elements Reflex Hair Spray

Choose one of these three combinations, if you have kinky or curly hair, you made need to also flat iron it to get the perfect Billy the Exterminator look. All you really need to do is apply some of the gel to your fingertips, kind of smush it around on all of your fingers to get the product activated. Then, grab sections of your hair, starting at the roots, and pull (gently) striaght out in which ever direction you desire. Set the finished style with a good dose of hair spray. Vavoom! Moder Mullet achieved! For those brave, funky soles that venturing into the land of the Mullet, I would LOVE to feature you pics on my blog! I definitely need have a Mullet gallery on here.
