Abba Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

Abba Pure Moisture Shampoo

Abba Pure Moisture Shampoo

So if you read my last blog, you’ll know that I switched to a Sulfate Free Shampoo & Conditioner. It was the Abba Pure Moisture Shampoo and Abba Pure Moisture Conditioner. I picked this particular shampoo because it was affordable (both were about $12 a bottle) and because my hair is always SUPER dry…so Moisture was definitely the way to go.

Abba’s other options are:
Color Protect – obviously for colored/dyed hair, which I don’t have
Volume – for adding volume to thin/fine hair, which I don’t have
Daily – a more gentle formula for daily washers who are worried about damage from frequent shampooing
Gentle – for sensitive scalps, again…not me

So I only based my choice on what I needed, which IS what you are supposed to do when picking a shampoo. However, I was in such a rush when picking it up that I didn’t take the time to pop the cap and SMELL the product. So the very first time I used the products, it was like, WOAH!

The shampoo has a very MINT smell to it. I’m talking someone just slapped you in the face with a mint plant – mint smell. Strong much? Ohhhh yeah! To me, the Conditioner was more of a Eucalyptus scent, and maybe just a little bit weaker in scent than the shampoo. It took a couple showers to get used to the smell, and then it didn’t really bother me that much. And, probably most importantly, I wasn’t walking around smelling like a mint factory all day: the strength of the scent didn’t hang around in my hair after showering. If you don’t like the smell of mint, then this shampoo and conditioner is definitely not for you!

Okay, so some positives about these two products:
The mint smell was refreshing and helped me wake up in the morning and feel rejuvenated. I’ve never experienced that with a shampoo before! And if I left the shampoo on for a bit, it made my scalp feel nice and tingly and clean! It was very refreshing! Also, it really did seem to improve my hair. My hair seemed less frizzy and a bit more shiny with these two products, which was great!

Like I said in my last blog, the lack of sulfates was especially nice since I seem to have been somewhat allergic to them. It took me about a week to notice it, but the awful burning sensation my eyes would get every time I showered was completely GONE! Seriously, a week after switching to this shampoo I went to wipe my eyes about halfway through my shower with a towel, like I always did to help alleviate the burn, and I realized there WAS no burn! Seriously amazing. Now there are other common ingredients left out of this shampoo that could have been the cause of my eye irritation, but based on all my research I would say that the most likely culprit was the Sulfates.
